Project Description

What We Did

It was important that the over all original feel was maintained and yet provide the building with much more modern outlook.

The external cladding was board and batten, which was renewed.

Much of the living area had raked ceilings which we were keen to retain.

It is often difficult with to fit wish lists into existing buildings; This project was no exception. However it was achieved in the end.

Hurunui District council, not unlike most rural councils, have in place planning rules that often do not fit every project.

The original building, built before the current rules were in place, was located too close to the road at 60m. The rule states that 80m was required. In this case a resource consent was sought and obtained by Smart Plans Limited.
